Our Mission

The Arun and Sunanda Gandhi Bildungswerk (Educational Institute) was founded in Germany and registered as a charity in 2009 by Arun Gandhi, grandson of MK Gandhi. The aim is to encourage emerging communities in economically depressed regions of the world. In addition, the Gandhian doctrine is to be made known. Promoting vocational training for children and supporting their parents are the focus of the work.

Important Notice

The Arun & Sunanda Gandhi Bildungswerk has no connection either directly or remotely to the Gandhi World Hunger Fund (which has been the subject of some criticism of its methods recently in the press).

We do not appeal to your emotions of sympathy to raise funds – that is not what the children of the world need but rather our love and caring. We (unlike the said organization) are a registered and German state approved charity and all persons engaged in our organization work on a completely voluntary basis. Our only administration costs are those directly involved in hosting our website, providing basic information literature and the fees of any outside lecturers for our teaching services. We ensure that any funds transferred to projects abroad are sent to the individuals really doing the job on the spot. Through our commercial projects such as publishing and our fruits for kids campaign we hope to raise extra funds true to the Gandhian tenet that wealth without work is a deadly sin whilst at the same time spreading the message of nonviolence as well as supporting local social and educational projects. We are organized as a small company with limited liability, which means we are required by law to publish our accounts to ensure absolute transparency.

If you have need for any detailed information on our organization please contact us.

We trust in your valued support for giving more people in this world a better chance for education. We remain true to our principles even if it takes longer to achieve our goals.
